These were fun images to create! The flower shot is layered with a rusty-orange color and a rock. The opacity of the orange color layer and the rock layer were both reduced. The orange color and flower layers were combined using the 'overlay' option. The rock image was layered partially in by the G pigments and then the 'vertical light' option was applied. For the bluejeans I initially applied the 'poster edges' filter to the image. Two text boxes and masks were used to get the two sizes and colors of text. The masks allowed me to gradually delete the text that interfered with the focal points in the photo. I also added a third text layer for the title. The opacity was reduced on all text layers.

The still life image of fruit was taken using a flash which helped the colors to appear more vividly. No adjustments were made to the fruit picture. Perhaps taking the photo in a better lit area, or against a more contrasting background would have been better. For the landscape picture I enhanced the levels in Photoshop which helped to brighten the image. I like that you can see the moon in the image (if you look close) :)

Grasshopper

This picture of the grasshopper was taken on the micro setting of my Samsung L830 camera. The cut-out was made using the quick-selection tool in photoshop. The cut-out was also slightly feathered and a non-directional drop-shadow was added in order to help smooth the edges. The cut-out was placed on a plain, white background.

Yellow is an attention grabbing color both in society and in nature. The flower and the crosswalk sign photos were not edited at all. The street sign picture was tricky to take because I wanted the flash to give the sign a stark contrast from the night sky and I also wanted the picture to capture the blinking light on top. The levels on the hydrant and highlighter pictures were both slightly adjusted in photoshop in order to enhance their color. The highlighter picture was taken with the micro setting on my camera so that the highlighter would be the only object in sharp focus. And that is my study in the color yellow!
