Yellow is an attention grabbing color both in society and in nature. The flower and the crosswalk sign photos were not edited at all. The street sign picture was tricky to take because I wanted the flash to give the sign a stark contrast from the night sky and I also wanted the picture to capture the blinking light on top. The levels on the hydrant and highlighter pictures were both slightly adjusted in photoshop in order to enhance their color. The highlighter picture was taken with the micro setting on my camera so that the highlighter would be the only object in sharp focus. And that is my study in the color yellow!

Oh... oh... oh! Your fire-hydrant is good! I have to say that the perspective is great because of the leaves. I think that most people don't try that angle because it usually is not that amazing. You did it though! those leaves really make a difference. another great add-on is the dark gravel on the ground. It gives a nice back ground.
ReplyDeleteI liked how much the yellow stands out in the flower picture. I love the fire hydrant. The contrast of yellow with green looks amazing. The crossing sign is cool because it is bright and I like the differences between all your pics.
ReplyDeleteI really like the contrast between colors in all of these. I also like your variety between close up and far away. I really like the fire hydrant one (I hate to say I like it "best" because I really can't choose a favorite; they're all so great) because of the contrast. Way to be creative on all of these.
ReplyDeleteYour shallow depth of field in the second one with the highlighter looks really nice, I like how you can see the text on the opposite page blur out of focus. The fire hydrant is really nice, you have good contrast in the background. I kind of wish you had a little more light shining on that shot to play with so the yellow of the hydrant would pop a little more, but it looks good the way it is. Good job on the fourth one getting a not-blurry picture at nighttime! I think it would've been cool if you took a picture of just a corner of the sign at an angle and in focus with the temple a little blurry in the background, but that could have been hard to do with the light (or lack of :).
ReplyDeleteI like how versatile your color is - it's all the same color but it's all so different. I think you did a good job of capturing different angles - it looked like you were coming straight on, from the left on two of them and then from the right. I really the picture with the highlighter - it doesn't just capture the highlighter, it also gets the markings on the page. But I think the stop sign could've been larger.
